Foordiceras transitorium multicostata was named by Reed (1931). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is K 24.581, slope between dhoks at Kumaranwali, Jarhanwala nala, which is in a Guadalupian/Lopingian marine horizon in Pakistan.
It was recombined as Metacoceras (Tainionautilus) multicostatum by Reed (1944).
