Taxonomy
Waitakia beelzebub was named by Lin and Nolf (2022). Its type specimen is IRSNB P 10117, an otolith (sagitta), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Piney Point Formation, Virginia, which is in a Lutetian offshore horizon in the Piney Point Formation of Virginia.
