Taxonomy
Pentacosmodon pronus was named by Jepsen (1940) [genotype]. Its type locality is Princeton Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Pentacosmodon.
