Palaeorhopalon spiniferum
Taxonomy
Palaeorhopalon spiniferum was named by Dai et al. (2024) [= 2005b spicule-like structure with an expanded base, G8. Ly5. 3-2 - Hua et al., p. I6.
= 2005b strongly recurved specimen with three closely spaced branches at the distal termination, G1. NL9-12 – Hua et al., pl. I4.
= 2005b tube with pseudo-dichotomous branching and possible stacked tablets, G3. 568 – Hua et al., pl. I2.
= 2005b two specimens adjoined, one of which possesses a long branch with semi-circular patches – Hua et al., pl. I8.]. Its type specimen is GEONWU-2023-LJG-461 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lijiagou section. 69 m., which is in an Ediacaran shallow subtidal dolomite in the Dengying Formation of China. It is the type species of Palaeorhopalon.
