Ptychoceras crassum was named by Whitfield (1877). It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Oxybeloceras crassum by Hyatt (1900), Kennedy and Cobban (1994), Kennedy et al. (2000), Ifrim et al. (2015); it was recombined as Solenoceras crassum by Sealey and Lucas (2019).
