Taxonomy
Strophonella eothen was named by Williams (1951). Its type specimen is SM. A30027, a valve (Interior of dorsal valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Strophonella (Eostrophonella) eothen by Williams (1951) and Temple (1987); it was recombined as Eostrophonella eothen by Cocks (2008).
