Taxonomy
Turris thurstonensis was named by Weaver (1916). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Galvin Station, which is in a Chattian offshore sandstone in the Lincoln Creek Formation of Washington.

It was recombined as Turris (Pleurotoma) thurstonensis by Clark (1918); it was recombined as Antiplanes thurstonensis by Tegland (1933); it was recombined as Suavodrillia thurstonensis by Durham (1944); it was recombined as Ptychosyrinx thurstonensis by Hickman (1976).
