Taxonomy
Chrysodomus (Sulcosipho) venturaensis was named by Waterfall (1929). Its type specimen is UCMP 31424 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 7074, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene marine horizon in the Pico Formation of California.
It was recombined as Neptunea (Neptunea) venturaensis by Grant and IV and Gale (1931).
