Taxonomy
Ornopsis elevata was named by Wade (1916) [m. kosnik taxon no: 3009]. Its type specimen is USNM 32884, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Ornopsis (Ripleyella).
It was recombined as Ornopsis (Ripleyella) elevata by Sohl (1964); it was recombined as Ripleyella elevata by Harbison (1945), Kiel and Perrillat (2004).
