Acanthodistacodus compositus
Taxonomy
Paltodus compositus was named by Moskalenko (1973). Its type specimen is Bolshaya Nirunda 397/20, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Acanthodistacodus.
It was recombined as Acanthodus compositus by Moskalenko (1978); it was recombined as Scolopodus compositus by Moskalenko (1978); it was recombined as Acanthodistacodus compositus by Tolmacheva et al. (2024).

Tolmacheva et al. 2024 | The apparatus of the species includes four types of coniform elements with a small base and a long cusp: dolaborate, quadricostate, quinquicostate, and bipennate scandodontiform elements. The outer anterior side between the anterior carina and the middle of the element in dolaborate elements and between the anterior carina and lateral costa in quadricostate elements is ornamented with small longitudinal costas. In the symmetrical element, the anterior part of the element is ornamented between the anterolateral carinae. |
