Monotis substriata was named by Münster (1831) [Lectotype designated by Lutikov & Arp 2020]. Its type specimen is IGPB-Goldfuss-729 a/1 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was corrected as Monotis substriatus by Munster (1831); it was recombined as Meleagrinella (Praemeleagrinella) substriata by Lutikov and Schurygin (2010); it was recombined as Meleagrinella substriata by Paredes et al. (2013); it was recombined as Meleagrinella (Clathrolima) substriata by Rogov and Lutikov (2022), Lutikov and Arp (2022).
It was corrected as Monotis substriatus by Munster (1831); it was recombined as Meleagrinella (Praemeleagrinella) substriata by Lutikov and Schurygin (2010); it was recombined as Meleagrinella substriata by Paredes et al.
