Taxonomy
Oistotrigonia austronana was named by Stilwell and Gallagher (2009). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Otway Basin, Drik Drik-1 Well, which is in a Coniacian prodelta mudstone/sandstone in the Belfast Mudstone Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Orbigonina austronana by Cooper (2015).
