Keithospongos loricatus was named by Kolesnikov et al. (2024). Its type specimen is PIN 5895/101, an other, and it is a compression fossil. It is the type species of Keithospongos.

The dermal skeletal layer consists of tangentially oriented, densely and evenly spaced oxeas, often forming meandering tracts with a weak sub-longitudinal orientation to generate a spiral arrangement. The skeleton bears tufts of external oxeas oriented normally to the body surface, with weaker projecting spicule fabric in other areas |
