Monograptus dubius ludlovensis was named by Bouček (1936).

It was recombined as Pristiograptus dubius ludlovensis by Münch (1942); it was recombined as Pristiograptus ludlovensis by Obut (1965); it was recombined as Pristiograptus ludlowensis by Krandijevsky (1968).
