Rhynchoconger chiloensis

Taxonomy
Rhynchoconger chiloensis was named by Schwarzhans and Nielsen (2021). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is SGO.PV.1603, an otolith, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Punta Perro south (PPS), which is in a Miocene coastal sandstone in the Navidad Formation of Chile.

Sulcus short, positioned at center of inner face, with distinct, long vertical ostial channel. OL:SuL = 2.2–2.4. Sulcus inclination angle 0–4°. Broad and distinct dorsal depression; faint ventral furrow close to ventral rim of otolith.
