Taxonomy
Girtopinna jimflisi was named by Yancey (2024). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zack Burkett quarry pinnid, which is in a Gzhelian marine horizon in the Graham Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Girtopinna.
