Taxonomy
Avicula elongata was named by Munster (1840). Its type specimen is MB.M.3642.1-2 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Avicula elongata by Münster (1840); it was recombined as Tiariconcha elongata by Grüneberg (1925); it was recombined as Elasmatium elongata by Nagel-Myers et al. (2009).
