Taxonomy
Obataceras manjiense was named by Shigeta et al. (2012). Its type specimen is NMNS PM7442, a shell (shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is SK1F11, Shikoro-zawa River, Manji area, which is in an Albian marine mudstone in the Hikagenosawa Formation of Japan. It is the type species of Obataceras.
