Hoplites (Hoplites) benettianus

Taxonomy
Ammonites benettianus was named by Sowerby (1826) [Cooper & Owen (2011) were incorrect in designating a Neotype (MNH-24746) as a lectotype exists in the ANSP collection see Torrens et al. 2000.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 71267, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Crockerton Pit, which is in an Albian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Hoplites benettianus by Neumayr (1875); it was recombined as Amedroites benettianus by Cooper and Owen (2011); it was recombined as Hoplites (Hoplites) benettianus by Amédro et al. (2014).
