Taxonomy
Stipatosteus svidunovitchi was named by Plax and Newman (2020). Its type specimen is BNTU 121/38-1 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Korma 1 borehole, 40.2, 340.8, 337.7, 337.8, and 337.9 m, which is in an Emsian marginal marine mudstone/siltstone in Belarus. It is the type species of Stipatosteus.
