Taxonomy
Diodora pupuyana was named by Nielsen et al. (2004). Its type specimen is SGO.PI.5995, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pupuya (PUY), which is in a Miocene coastal sandstone in the Navidad Formation of Chile.
