Taxonomy
Pulvinites lawrencei was named by Ward and Waller (1988). Its type specimen is USNM 398522, a valve (right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belvedere Beach, which is in a Thanetian interdistributary bay sandstone in the Aquia Formation of Virginia.
