Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
H. D. de Blainville 1818Perca {nobis) cyprinodon '? Cuv., Loc. cit. fig. i4- M. Cuvier regarding the anterior portion of the skeleton of a fish whose head, rather large, terminates a short body, and which, moreover, shows no trace of a dorsal fin or tail, as having belonged to the section of abdominal fishes near the cyprinodons of M. de Lacèpède. The shape of the body and head, the brevity of the visceral cavity, would rather lead me to think that it is a thoracic fish, which seems to me to be supported by the position of the posterior fin and even by the first two rays of the anal fin, which appear to me to be spiny.
