Rhynchosauroides triangulus was named by Gand (1977). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is La Pissoire Quarries, EF2 tracksite, which is in an Anisian/Ladinian floodplain claystone/sandstone in the Grès d'Antully Formation of France.

La main est située en arrière du pied, tournée vers l'intérieur de la piste. Elle est triangulaire, plus petite que le pied et, contrairement à cet autopode, aussi large que longue et souvent, plus large que longue.
Les doigts II.III.IV, mal dessinés, se réunissent en arrière pour former un talon triangulaire ou ovale caractéristique. Les orteils I et V ont marqué le sol de manière accidentelle. L'écart séparant les doigts II-IV est nettement plus important que celui du pied.
Le pied ne laisse, en général, que les orteils II.III.IV. Le rapport IV/III est plus grand que celui de la main.
