Saurosternon bainii
Taxonomy
Saurosternon bainii was named by Huxley (1868). Its type specimen is BMNH R1234, a set of postcrania (postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Stylkrantz, Sniewe Berg (Dicynodon AZ), which is in a Wuchiapingian/Changhsingian terrestrial sandstone in South Africa. It is the type species of Saurosternon.
