Eocaiman cavernensis
Taxonomy
Eocaiman cavernensis was named by Simpson (1933) [Found by G. G. Simpson and J. Hernandez during the Scarritt Patagonian Expedition.]. Its type specimen is AMNH FARB 3158, a partial skull (most of the front parts of skull and jaws), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Eocaiman cavernensis holotype locality (Notostylops Beds), which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Eocaiman.
