Taxonomy
Amphicoelia was named by Hall (1865). It is not extant. Its type is Amphicoelia leidyi.

It was assigned to Ambonychiidae by Isberg (1934) and Pojeta (1966); and to Amphicoeliidae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
