Taxonomy
Kimina australis was named by Yoo (1994). Its type locality is Kyndalyn. Yoo Loc. 24. Behind Kyndalyn homestead, 10 km S of Somerton, which is in a Visean marine mudstone/limestone in the Merlewood Formation of Australia.
