Natica uvasana was named by Gabb (1864) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10164]. Its type specimen is ANSP 4233 (lectotype) and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Natica (Naticarius) uvasana by Marincovich (1977), Squires (1984) and Squires (1988).
