Naticina obliqua was named by Gabb (1864) [m. kosnik taxon no: 10142].

It was recombined as Sinum obliquum by Waring (1917), Stewart (1927), Clark (1938), Moore (1976), Marincovich (1977), Squires (1984), Squires (1987); it was recombined as Eunaticina obliqua by Nelson (1925); it was recombined as Sinum obliqua by Durham (1944), Squires (1988).
