Arca tortuosa was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Trisidos tortuosa by Skwarko (1994), Lamprell and Healy (1998) and Wilson (2002).
