Platyceras (Platyceras) trojani was named by Blodgett and Johnson (1992). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM 17249. Horse Creek Valley Quadrangle. Northern Simpson Park Range., which is in an Eifelian marine packstone in the Denay Limestone Formation of Nevada.
It was recombined as Platyceras trojani by Wagner (2023).
