Shuotheriidae was named by Chow and Rich (1982). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Wang et al. (1998).
It was assigned to Yinotheria by Wang et al. (1998); to Symmetrodonta by Averianov (2002); and to Shuotheridia by Chow and Rich (1982), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
