Trilophosaurus buettneri

Taxonomy

Trilophosaurus buettneri was named by Case (1928). Its type specimen is UMMP 2338, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Walker's Tank, TMM 41966, which is in a Norian terrestrial horizon in the Tecovas Formation of Texas.

Synonyms

Malerisaurus langstoni was named by Chatterjee (1986) [Spielmann et al. 2006 restricted the holotype to the skull fragments only]. Its type specimen is TMM 31099-11, a partial skull (Skull fragments), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Otis Chalk Quarry 2, TMM 31099 (Dockum Formation), which is in a Carnian/Norian crevasse splay mudstone/sandstone in the Colorado City Formation of Texas.

It was synonymized subjectively with Trilophosaurus buettneri by Spielmann et al. (2006).
