Titanoplina meramecensis was named by Stinchcomb and Angeli (2002). Its type locality is Locality C-6, Gasconade Formation, Pulaski County, Missouri - Stinchcomb 1986, which is in a Tremadoc reef, buildup or bioherm horizon in the Gasconade Formation of Missouri.
