It was assigned to Nematognathii by Jordan (1963); to Siluroidea by Casier (1966); to Siluriformes by Cione (1987), Martinelli and Forasiepi (2004); and to Diplomystoidei by Betancur et al. (2013), Nelson et al. (2016).
