Edentosuchus tienshanensis

Taxonomy
Edentosuchus tienshanensis was named by Young (1973). Its type specimen is IVPP V.3236 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wuerho, IVPP site 64043, which is in a Valanginian/Albian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Lianmuqin Formation of China.

Pol et al. 2004Small, short-snouted crocodyliform lacking an antorbital fenestra; posterolaterally expanded squamosal; elongated prootic and laterosphenoid; five maxillary and nine mandibular teeth; marked heterodonty in maxillary teeth displaying three different crown morphologies: first two maxillary teeth tricusped (central cusp with two accessory cusps), third and fourth maxillary teeth with occlusal edges formed by numerous small cusps enclosing three larger cusps aligned anteroposteriorly, fifth maxillary tooth large and bulbous with a central cusp and two reduced accessory cusps located anterolingually and posterobucally on the tooth crown; mandibular symphysis extremely elongated encompassing all but the posteriormost dentary tooth.
