Taxonomy
Trigonia transitoria was named by Steinmann (1881).

It was recombined as Steinmanella (Steinmanella) transitoria by Reyes and Pérez (1978); it was recombined as Steinmanella transitoria by Leanza et al. (1987); it was recombined as Steinmanella (Transitrigonia) transitoria by Leanza (1993); it was recombined as Transitrigonia transitoria by Cox (1952), Cooper and Leanza (2017).
