Ulocrinus fistulosus was named by Strimple and Moore (1971). Its type specimen is SUI 34176. Its type locality is Near Sycamore, Wann Formation, Ochelata Group, Montgomery County, KS, which is in a Missourian marine limestone in the Wann Formation of Kansas.
