E. Perrier 1928Corps serpentiforme, sans traces de pattes. Crâne rappelant celui des Serpents, sans septum interorbitaire, sans arcs, sans columelle crânienne. Dents peu nombreuses, grandes, préhensiles, à base renflée. Écailles molles, un peu hexagones, fortement imbriquées. Yeux et oreilles cachés.

Bogert 1954Temporal arch absent; postorbital vestige bordering temporal fossa; conchs of quadrate narrow; dorsal cranial bones smooth, without osteodermal incrustation; pro-otic and parietal forming a long firm suture to close the braincase posteriorly; head with large and regular epidermal scutes; frontals meeting beneath olfactory tracts; palatine as in Anguis; teeth similar to those of
Anguis; stapes with very short and stout columella auris, as in Ophiodes.
