Taxonomy
Geringophis vetus was named by Holman (1982). Its type specimen is KU 49126, a set of vertebrae, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is KU-NEBR-22, which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of Nebraska.
