Taxonomy
Maclurea affinis was named by Billings (1865). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Barnesella affinis by Bridge and Cloud (1947), Lochman (1966) and Yochelson and Copeland (1974); it was recombined as Maclurites affinis by Desbiens et al. (1996); it was recombined as Teiichispira affinis by Wagner (1999) and Wagner (2023).
