Kalloprion was named by Kielan-Jaworowska (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde-u Tr Anis-l Sepkoski's reference number: 365,770].

It was assigned to Eunicemorpha by Sepkoski (2002); and to Kalloprionidae by Hints (1998), Eriksson (2006).
