Filograna was named by Oken (1815) [Sepkoski's age data: D m R Sepkoski's reference number: 368]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Serpulimorpha by Sepkoski (2002); and to Serpulidae by Wienrich (1999), Senowbari-Daryan and Link (2005) and Sanfilippo et al. (2017).
