Taxonomy
Bavarioboa crocheti was named by Szyndlar and Rage (2003). Its type specimen is USTL, PDS 3102 (one trunk vertebra) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pech Desse, which is in a MP 28 terrestrial horizon in France.

Z. Szyndlar and J.-C. Rage 2003"Differs from all remaining species of Bavarioboa except for (some vertebrae of) B. herrlingensis sp. n. and B. hermi by having haemal keel in the shape of a biconcave lens in ventral view.
Differs from all remaining species of Bavarioboa except for B. vaylatsae sp. n. by having zygosphene (three-lobed) with the central lobe distinctly shifted downwards.
Differs from all remaining species of Bavarioboa except for B. herrlingensis sp. n. by having distinctly rounded anterodorsal portions of neural spines of middle trunk vertebrae; by having thick zygosphene in some vertebrae.
Differs from all remaining species of Bavarioboa by having thickened neural spine in some middle trunk vertebrae (pg. 28."
