Codonocheilus striatum was named by Whiteaves (1884). It is not extant. Its type locality is Durham, Billings Localities, which is in a Gorstian carbonate limestone/dolomite in the Guelph Formation of Canada.
It was corrected as Codonocheilus striatus by Fischer (1885), Whiteaves (1895).
