Cyclozyga attenuata

Taxonomy
Cyclozyga attenuata was named by Hoare and Sturgeon (1978). Its type specimen is OSU 30415, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ss-4. Abandoned D&M Coal Co. strip mine. 4.8 kilometers west of Malvern, which is in a Desmoinesian marine shale/limestone in the Allegheny Formation of Ohio.

Very small, narrowly attenuate, with impressed sutures, whorl profile rounded, aperture subquadrate, base somewhat flattened and an anomphalus umbilicus. Protoconch with one smooth whorl followed by two whorls with collabral costellae. Teleoconch separated from protoconch by a distinct growth line. Teleoconch marked by four revolving, equally spaced, narrow, low costellae with wider interspaces. Revolving costellae may become indistinct or obsolete on later whorls. Growth lines are smoothly prosocline.
