Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria difficilis was named by Whitfield (1890). It is not extant. Its type locality is 227 - Promonotory on west end of Fort Cassin, Lake Champlain., which is in a Cassinian carbonate limestone in the Fort Cassin Formation of Vermont.
It was recombined as Seelya difficilis by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Plethospira difficilis by Wagner (2023).
