Triplicatella was named by Conway Morris (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tomm-l Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 923,1030]. It is not extant. Its type is Triplicatella disdoma. It is the type genus of Triplicatellidae.
