Taxonomy
Strophostylus fitchi was named by Hall (1859). It is not extant. Its type locality is Carlisle, Upper Pentamerus Beds (Hall), which is in a Lochkovian deep subtidal ramp packstone in the Becraft Limestone Formation of New York.
